About Lindsay Murphy
Lindsay Murphy Parker built a legal path from classrooms in North Carolina to a practice that handles everyday financial crises. She moved from studying communication and leadership as an undergraduate to tackling law. The shift changed how she sees client problems. It also shaped the kinds of cases she takes on.
She earned a B.A. in Communication Studies and Leadership from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in 2009. After a few years, she returned to school and attended North Carolina Central University School of Law, where she received her J.D. in 2016. Her legal training combined classroom doctrine with hands-on clinics and practical exercises, preparing her for state practice.
After law school she was admitted to the North Carolina bar in 2016 and began practicing in the state. Early in her career she gravitated toward consumer debt issues and the procedural work that bankruptcy practice requires. That direction led her to join Gillespie & Murphy, P.A., where she handles filings, client counseling and court appearances on behalf of individuals seeking relief from unsecured and secured debts.
Her membership in the National Association for Consumer Bankruptcy Lawyers, which she joined in 2016, reflects the kind of matters she handles. She is also a member of the North Carolina Bar Association. Those affiliations keep her current on changes to bankruptcy rules, consumer protections and local practice norms. Day-to-day, that translates into drafting petitions, advising clients on plan options and representing them at hearings. She works on Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 cases and on related consumer-law issues that commonly arise alongside restructuring efforts.
She approaches client work in practical, procedural terms. She explains options in plain language and maps out the sequence of filings, deadlines and court events that determine outcomes. Her work often involves coordinating with trustees, negotiating with creditors and preparing materials the court requires. She balances courtroom procedure with client communication so people understand both their rights and the likely timetable. She currently focuses her practice on consumer bankruptcy and related consumer-law matters.
