About Lewis B.

Lewis B. Gardner is a lawyer whose career has centered on labor and employment matters. He earned a J.D. from Wake Forest University School of Law in 1979 after completing a B.A. at Duke University in 1974. Those academic years set the stage for a long career that has spanned in-house roles and private practice.

He has long worked at the intersection of employment law and corporate operations. In 2000 he served as Senior Counsel in Labor and Employment Law for TRW Systems, a role that placed him squarely in complex workplace issues. That position involved counseling management on compliance and dispute resolution for a large technical workforce.

Gardner moved into the energy sector in 2003 when he joined EQT Corporation. There he handled a range of labor and employee relations matters as Senior Counsel and Director of Employee and Labor Relations, and later held the title of General Counsel and Vice President of External Affairs. Those roles combined legal oversight with responsibilities that reached beyond traditional in-house counsel work, including regulatory matters and public-facing external affairs.

He entered private practice as a partner at GardnerFrankhouser in 2019. His shift back to a firm setting brought decades of in-house experience to clients facing workplace litigation, regulatory compliance questions, collective bargaining issues and executive-level employment disputes. He is admitted to practice law in Texas, Pennsylvania and Georgia, and those multi-jurisdictional credentials inform work that often crosses state lines.

Outside client work, Gardner maintains active ties to professional organizations. He belongs to several sections of the American Bar Association, including the Litigation Section, the Labor and Employment Law Section and the Federal Labor Standards Legislation Committee. He is also involved with the Pennsylvania Bar Association Federal Practice Committee and the Allegheny County Bar Association’s Labor and Employment Law Section. Those memberships reflect sustained engagement with developments in federal standards and courtroom practice.

Colleagues and clients see a lawyer who combines corporate experience with courtroom know-how. He has handled employer-side counseling and contested matters for both private companies and large corporations. Today he practices at GardnerFrankhouser, where he focuses on labor and employment law matters.
