About Leticia Elva
\n\nLetty earned her Juris Doctor from Baylor University School of Law in 1994. Prior to her legal career, she obtained a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Baylor University in 1990.\n\nBefore joining Varghese Summersett, Letty served as a state and federal prosecutor. She spent over two decades at the Tarrant County District Attorney's Office, working in divisions such as Juvenile, Crimes Against Children, and Gang. She was promoted to Chief of the Family Violence Unit and Crimes Against Children Unit and also served as Deputy Chief of the Misdemeanor Division, supervising more than 20 attorneys.
Additionally, Letty served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Criminal Division of the United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Texas.\n\nIn 2014, Letty was appointed by Governor Rick Perry to the Child Fatality Review Team Committee, which develops procedures to reduce the number of preventable child deaths. In February 2018, she was reappointed by Lt. Gov.
Dan Patrick to the same committee.\n\nLetty has been recognized for her contributions to the legal field. She was selected to Super Lawyers from 2022 to 2026 and was named a Rising Star in 2005, 2006, and 2008. She has also been honored by Easter Seals North Texas’ Hats Off to Mothers for her contributions to the community and dedication to children in 2019.\n\nIn 2023, Baylor Law School approved Letty as an adjunct member of the faculty. She currently teaches the Practiced Court Program.\n\nLetty is admitted to practice in the State of Texas and the U.S.
District Court for the Northern District of Texas. She is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the Tarrant County Bar Association.\n\n","sources":[
