Leonor Perretta is the managing attorney at Perretta Law Office, located in West Jordan, Utah. Since 1996, she has dedicated her career exclusively to immigration law. Her experience includes representing clients in immigration court, Citizenship & Immigration Services, the Board of Immigration Appeals, and federal court. This comprehensive legal background enables her to handle the requirements of immigration matters effectively, advocating for her clients with a understanding of the law. Born in Uruguay, Leonor immigrated to the United States at the age of six. This personal experience fuels her focus on immigration law and informs her empathetic approach to client representation.
She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from the University of Utah in 1991, where she developed a keen interest in cultural dynamics and human rights. Following her undergraduate studies, she pursued her Juris Doctor at the University of Utah College of Law, graduating in 1996. This legal education laid the foundation for her successful career in immigration law. In addition to her legal practice, Leonor is an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA). She has served in various leadership roles, including as the Utah Chapter Chair, where she worked to enhance the professional development of immigration attorneys in the region. Currently, she holds the position of AILA Liaison to the local Immigration Court, facilitating communication between the court and the legal community.
Her involvement in AILA highlights her commitment to advancing the field of immigration law and supporting fellow practitioners. Recognition for her contributions to the legal community has been significant. In 2017, Leonor received the Utah State Bar's Outstanding Mentor award, acknowledging her dedication to guiding new attorneys in the field. That same year, she was also honored with the J. Reuben Clark Law Society's Pro Bono Legal Service Award, reflecting her commitment to providing legal assistance to underserved populations. Additionally, in 2016, she was awarded the Utah Minority Bar Association's Distinguished Lawyer of the Year award, underscoring her impact on both the legal profession and the community.
Fluent in Spanish, Leonor is able to serve clients, ensuring that language barriers do not hinder access to justice. Outside of her professional commitments, she enjoys camping and participating in CrossFit, activities that allow her to maintain a balanced lifestyle.
