About Leonard
Leonard Odom built a legal foundation across several Southern universities. He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina, then took his law degree at the University of South Carolina School of Law. He later pursued graduate studies in taxation and estate planning, completing master’s level work at the University of Florida and at the University of Miami School of Law.
After law school, Odom entered public service. In the early 2000s he served as counsel for revenue litigation with the South Carolina Department of Revenue. That role placed him on the front lines of tax disputes and administrative litigation. He moved between government assignments and private practice, bringing an understanding of state revenue procedures into later roles.
By 2006 Odom was of counsel at Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice, PLLC. He spent time advising on matters that intersected tax, estates and regulatory compliance. In 2009 he joined the South Carolina Senate Ethics Committee as counsel, a position that required navigating ethical rules and the intersection of law and public policy. Those appointments broadened his exposure to both technical legal issues and the institutional workings of state government.
In 2017 he started a solo practice, founding Odom Law LLC. The firm reflects years spent on taxation and estate matters, and it grew out of a practice pattern that combined litigation experience and estate planning credentials. As a solo practitioner he manages client intake, strategy and courtroom matters when cases require litigation. He also handles planning and transactional work for individuals and families.
Colleagues describe Odom as methodical in how he approaches complex tax problems. He has experience drafting plans and filings and litigating contested revenue issues at the administrative level. His background in two LL.M. programs—one in taxation and one related to estate planning—supports that mix of advisory and adversarial work. He has worked inside government and inside law firms, and he translates those perspectives for private clients.
Today Odom is based in South Carolina and operates Odom Law LLC. His practice encompasses estate planning, tax matters and revenue litigation, and he represents clients in both advisory settings and administrative proceedings.
