About Leonard Miles
Leonard Miles Shulman is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in the State of California. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 1986. His license is currently in active status. Mr. Shulman is the Managing Partner at Shulman Bastian Friedman Bui & O'Dea LLP, a full-service law firm located in Irvine, California. He has been practicing law for over 38 years, serving clients throughout Southern California.
Mr. Shulman earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of San Diego School of Law, where he graduated in 1986. Prior to law school, he completed his undergraduate education at the University of California, San Diego, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, magna cum laude, in 1983. During his time at UCSD, he was awarded the Regent Scholar Award for excellence in academics.
Mr. Shulman concentrates his practice in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, creditors' rights, and bankruptcy. He represents individuals and businesses in matters involving business reorganizations, creditor rights, and bankruptcy litigation. His practice encompasses all stages of litigation, including initial case evaluation, discovery, mediation, settlement negotiations, and trial proceedings in both state and federal courts.
Throughout his career, Mr. Shulman has handled cases in the U.S. District Courts for the Central, Eastern, Northern, and Southern Districts of California. He has also appeared before the California Court of Appeal on multiple occasions. Prior to founding his own firm, he worked as an associate at a mid-size litigation firm in Irvine for five years.
Mr. Shulman is an active member of the Orange County Bankruptcy Forum, having served as its president from 1991 to 1995. He is also on the Editorial Board of the California Bankruptcy Journal. He was the president of the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation from 2006 to 2007 and sat on the Board for over ten years. Mr. Shulman is fluent in English and Spanish, allowing him to serve the diverse communities of Southern California effectively.
