About Leonard Gonzalez Belmares
Leonard Gonzalez Belmares II built a legal path that begins in classrooms and leads to the bench and then to his own firm. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice–Homeland Security from Austin Peay State University in 2008. He completed his legal studies at St. Mary’s University School of Law, receiving his J.D. in 2012.
After law school, Belmares entered private practice in Tennessee. He joined Baker Law Group, PLLC in 2012 and handled a range of matters for clients in state courts. That early period gave him on-the-ground experience and a practical view of courtroom work. He was admitted to the Tennessee bar in 2012 and began building a practice that intersected with municipal and criminal matters.
In 2014 he took on a different role in the local justice system. Belmares served as a judge for the White Bluff Municipal Court. The position placed him in the center of day-to-day municipal adjudication. He handled cases that shaped community life and acquainted him with the procedural and administrative dimensions of local courts.
Belmares returned to private practice and in 2017 launched Belmares Law, PLLC. He founded the firm to provide legal services in Tennessee and to apply his experience from both sides of the bench. Running his own firm required shifting from casework to practice management. He continued to appear in municipal settings and in state courts while overseeing the business of a small law office.
Colleagues and clients who have crossed paths with Belmares note his background in criminal justice and his municipal court experience as consistent threads in his work. His academic and professional trajectory links policing, local courts, and trial practice. He remains active in Tennessee law and maintains a practice that addresses matters arising in municipal courts, criminal proceedings, and related civil issues. He currently practices at Belmares Law, PLLC, where he handles municipal and criminal matters in Tennessee courts.
