About Leonard E.

Leonard E. Hudson built his legal foundation at Illinois State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in 1997. He went on to receive his J.D. from The John Marshall Law School in 2007. Those years set the stage for a career that has moved between large-firm litigation and a regional practice handling contested matters in state and federal courts.

Hudson spent time as counsel in the Complex Litigation Group at Reed Smith LLP. There he worked on multi-party disputes and other matters that required coordinated legal teams and attention to procedural detail. That role placed him in federal and state court dockets and gave him experience managing discovery, briefing high-stakes motions, and preparing cases for trial.

After Reed Smith, Hudson joined The Collins Law Office, P.C. as a senior associate. At Collins he handles cases that reach into both Illinois courts and federal forums. His admission to the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin allows him to represent clients across those federal venues as well as in Illinois state court.

Colleagues describe Hudson as methodical. He prefers to break complex matters into discrete tasks and to set clear milestones for litigation work. That approach has guided his handling of document-intensive cases and coordination with outside experts. He also maintains active membership in the Illinois State Bar, a connection that keeps him engaged with developments in state practice and procedure.

Clients and opposing counsel see Hudson as steady in the courtroom and thorough in pretrial preparation. He has experience drafting dispositive motions, arguing evidentiary issues, and managing the often-shifting schedules of civil litigation. Those skills have been used in jury and non-jury matters and in hearings in both state and federal settings.

Outside the courtroom, Hudson’s background includes the organizational skills often needed in large-case practice. Managing teams, calendaring complex deadlines, and overseeing production of voluminous records are regular parts of his practice. He brings that operational know-how to matters at The Collins Law Office, P.C., where he serves as a senior associate.

He is currently based at The Collins Law Office, P.C., handling complex litigation and federal-court matters in Illinois and neighboring districts. His current practice focuses on litigation in Illinois state courts and in federal courts including the Northern District of Illinois and the Eastern District of Wisconsin.
