About Lene Alley
Lene Alley DeRudder built her preparation for law across two states and two distinct fields of study. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Appalachian State University in 1998. She later returned to formal study of the law and received her J.D. from Texas Wesleyan University School of Law in 2009. Those academic steps set a pattern of civic and professional engagement that has followed her into practice.
She began volunteering early in her career. Records show volunteer roles with Legal Aid of Northwest Texas beginning as early as 2006 and continuing through 2015, including time as a volunteer lawyer and community volunteer. She also worked with the Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas for many years, serving as a camp leader, troop leader and later head troop leader between 2007 and 2015. Those positions reflect a sustained interest in community service alongside her legal work.
Her service within local and regional bar groups became a consistent thread. She has been active in the Collin County Bar Association in several capacities, including a directorship in 2014–2015 and leadership of practice-oriented sections such as the Law Practice Management Section and the Making Your Practice Work seminar. In Dallas professional circles she has taken on leadership roles as well, including co-chairing the Solo & Small Firm Committee of the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers and participating in the association’s leadership class and event committees.
She has remained engaged with the Allen-Fairview business community, helping to co-found the Allen-Fairview Chamber of Commerce Young Professionals in 2012 and maintaining membership in the Chamber. That involvement has coincided with leadership on local nonprofit and civic efforts, suggesting a blend of legal practice and community organization in her career.
Her committee work has included participation in the Texas Family Law Foundation’s Legislative Bill Review Committee and membership in The College of the State Bar of Texas. Those affiliations indicate an interest in family-law policy and in continuing legal education and practice standards. Over time she has combined practice management interests and family law policy work with hands-on volunteer legal services.
Today she practices law in Texas, combining work on family-law matters with counseling and representation for small firms and solo practitioners on practice-management issues. She continues to be active in local bar associations and community organizations.
