About Lee A.
Lee A. Marinaccio has practiced law across state and federal courts for more than four decades. He earned his J.D. from Loyola University Chicago School of Law in 1971 after completing a B.A. at Elmhurst College in 1967. Those early years set the stage for a career that moved between public service and private practice.
He began his legal career in the DuPage County State's Attorney’s Office in 1971. A year later he joined the United States Department of Justice as a special attorney and was assigned to the Office for Drug Abuse Law Enforcement, working in both Gary, Indiana and Chicago. In 1974 he became an assistant U.S. attorney in the Northern District of Illinois. By 1976 he was serving as First Assistant State’s Lawyer in Kane County, handling a range of prosecutorial responsibilities.
Marinaccio shifted into private practice and later became a principal at Botti Marinaccio, LTD. in 2006. His courtroom experience includes appearances in state courts and in federal venues. He is admitted to practice in Illinois, before the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Indiana, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, and the U.S. Supreme Court.
His professional affiliations reflect the subjects that have occupied much of his work. He is a fellow of the Illinois Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and has been active on the DuPage County Special Family Court Task Force. He also holds memberships in the American Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association, and county bar associations in DuPage, Kane and Will. He was listed on the Lawyer Registry and Disciplinary Commission from 2007 to 2014. Locally, he participates in the DuPage County Justinian Society of Lawyers.
Colleagues describe him as experienced in courtroom procedure and negotiation. He handles contested hearings and settlements, often in family law matters. His background in federal prosecutions and as an assistant state’s attorney gives him familiarity with trial work and evidentiary practice.
Marinaccio continues to divide his time between casework and participation in local bar activities. He maintains a practice at Botti Marinaccio - Lawyers at Law, where he concentrates his practice on family and matrimonial law.
