About Lawrence J.
Lawrence J. Avallone blends a background in law enforcement, prosecutorial work and courtroom practice into a steady, evidence-driven approach. He has moved through several roles over more than two decades, beginning in uniform and ending up in the courtroom and the classroom.
He earned a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Management from Warner Southern College in 1998, followed by a Master of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of Central Florida in 2000. He completed his legal education at Appalachian School of Law, receiving his J.D. in 2006. Those credentials inform both how he prepares a case and how he explains complicated legal issues to clients and juries.
Avallone’s career began in frontline public safety. He served as a deputy sheriff with the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office in 1994, an early post that exposed him to investigations and courtroom procedures at a grass-roots level. That experience preceded his move into the prosecutor’s office. In 2006 he joined the Office of the State Lawyer as an assistant state lawyer, a role that placed him on the other side of many criminal matters and deepened his understanding of trial practice.
Teaching has been a steady thread in his professional life. In 2010 he served as an adjunct instructor at Daytona State College and at the University of Phoenix. Those classroom roles allowed him to break down legal concepts for students and to stay current on evolving legal theories and courtroom techniques.
Within the bar, Avallone has remained actively involved in issues tied to criminal trial practice. He holds membership on the Florida State Bar’s Criminal Trial Law committee since 2018. He is also certified as a Criminal Trial Specialist by the Florida State Bar, a credential that recognizes trial competency under the bar’s certification standards.
He maintains memberships in national and state defense organizations. Since 2014 he has been a member of both the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. Those affiliations connect him to colleagues across jurisdictions and to continuing legal education specific to criminal defense.
Avallone practices at Avallone Law P.A., where he handles matters arising out of Florida’s criminal justice system. His practice draws on prior work as a deputy and prosecutor, and on the classroom experience he has cultivated. He continues to try cases and teach, focusing his current practice on criminal trial work in Florida.
