Lawrence David Rohlfing is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in the State of California. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 1985. His license is currently in active status. Mr. Rohlfing earned his Juris Doctor degree from Whittier Law School in 1985, graduating cum laude. Prior to law school, he completed his undergraduate education at Whittier College, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science in 1982. During his time at Whittier Law School, he was recognized for his academic achievements and was named the Whittier Law School Attorney of the Year in 2016.
Mr. Rohlfing's practice primarily focuses on Social Security disability law, representing clients in disputes before the Social Security Administration and in federal courts, including the U.S. District Courts and the U.S. Court of Appeals. He has been involved in thousands of disability claims and has argued numerous cases in appellate courts. Notably, he presented briefs in three cases to the United States Supreme Court and argued Black & Decker Disability Plan v. Nord before the Court in April 2003.
Throughout his career, Mr. Rohlfing has been admitted to practice in several federal courts, including the U.S. District Court for the Central, Southern, and Eastern Districts of California, the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He has also appeared before the U.S. Supreme Court. In addition to his private practice, he has served as a sustaining member and held leadership positions in the National Organization of Social Security Claimants’ Representatives (NOSSCR), including President from 2006 to 2007.
Mr. Rohlfing is an active member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association, where he has served as the chair of the Social Security Section. He has presented numerous papers at meetings of NOSSCR, the Los Angeles County Bar Association Social Security Section, the Beverly Hills Bar Association, the Southeast Bar Association of Los Angeles County, and the National Business Institute. He is also involved in his community, having managed baseball and softball teams, coached football, and served as an elder at La Habra Christian Church.
