About Lauren Pardee
Lauren Pardee Ruben built a legal path through some of the country’s most influential courts. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in political science and Spanish from Columbia University, then went on to receive her J.D. from Yale Law School in 2010. Those academic credentials preceded a string of federal and state clerkships that exposed her to high-stakes litigation early in her career.
Her first post-law school role was as a law clerk for Judge Jed S. Rakoff at the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York in 2010. She then clerked for Judge Robert A. Katzmann on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit in 2011. In 2012 she served as a staff lawyer to Justice Goodwin Liu at the Supreme Court of California. That assignment led, in 2014, to a Supreme Court clerkship for Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Each position added layers of appellate and trial-court experience and an inside view of judicial decision-making.
After her clerkships, Ruben entered private practice. She joined Jones Day as an associate in 2015, where she worked on matters that drew on her appellate background. In 2019 she moved to Perkins Coie LLP as counsel. Her resume shows a steady movement from courts to law firms, and a steady deepening of experience in appellate litigation and federal cases.
Ruben is admitted in multiple jurisdictions. She holds membership in the New York State Bar since 2011 and has an affiliation with Colorado State University beginning in 2018. Her bar and appellate admissions include the states of New York and Colorado as well as appearances in the Second, Seventh and Ninth Circuits and the Federal Circuit. This combination of admissions and clerkship experience gives her a practical understanding of both trial and appellate procedure.
Colleagues describe her workstyle as careful and precise. She has handled briefs and oral arguments and participated in complex federal matters. Those tasks reflect the training she received at Yale and through her clerkships, where legal writing and analytical rigor are central.
Today Ruben serves as counsel at Perkins Coie LLP. She continues to handle appellate and federal court work as part of her practice, applying her courtroom experience to clients’ appeals and federal litigation matters.
