About Lauren

Lauren Nicholson built her legal foundation in California classrooms before moving into family law practice. She earned a Juris Doctor from the Santa Barbara and Ventura Colleges of Law in 2017 after completing graduate study at California State University, Bakersfield, where she received a master’s degree in English language and literature in 2013. Her undergraduate work was at California State University, Fresno, where she completed a bachelor’s degree in English in 2012. Those academic years shaped her interest in careful legal writing and practical advocacy.

She entered practice in 2017 as an associate at the Law Office of Christina Shaffer, handling family law matters early in her career. The work there exposed her to contested divorces, custody disputes and support issues. In 2019 she returned to the academic side of law as an adjunct instructor at the Santa Barbara & Ventura Colleges of Law, teaching courses intended to help students bridge doctrinal study and courtroom practice. Her teaching role continued while she maintained an active caseload.

In 2020 Nicholson established Nicholson Law, taking on client work under her own practice name. Two years later the firm formalized as Nicholson Law, APC. The firm’s files reflect steady family law work: dissolution matters, custody and visitation negotiations, child and spousal support calculations, and post-judgment modifications. Those cases often require negotiation as well as courtroom appearances, and her practice has covered both.

Colleagues describe her style in court as methodical. She prepares written pleadings, settlement proposals and parenting plans with attention to statutory detail. She has handled contested hearings and settlement conferences in California family courts and counseled clients on the practical implications of different dispute-resolution paths. Her experience as an instructor informs how she explains complicated legal rules to clients who are unfamiliar with the process.

Nicholson is based in California and practices under Nicholson Law, APC. She has continued classroom involvement while running her practice, a blend that keeps her connected to both students and clients. Her work is typical of a family law practitioner who moves between negotiation, paperwork and court appearances.

She now practices family law at Nicholson Law, APC, and her practice concentrates on divorce, child custody and related family law matters.
