About Lauren

Lauren Bolfango earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 1988, studying Behavioral Science and Law. She continued her legal education at the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco, where she received her J.D. in 1991. Those formative years placed her at the intersection of social science and legal doctrine, shaping an approach that balances practical problem-solving with attention to legal detail.

Her career began in private practice. In 1992 she joined the Law Offices of Eugene L. Bass as an associate. She spent that period gaining on-the-ground experience in courtroom procedure and client representation. After several years there she moved into partnership in 1999 at Nicholsen, Fritz & McKown, LLP. Two years later she became managing partner of the reorganized Bolfango & McKown, LLP, a role that combined case work with the day-to-day responsibilities of running a firm.

Bolfango’s professional admissions include the California bar and federal appellate jurisdictions, specifically the Ninth Circuit and the Federal Circuit. Those admissions reflect a practice that has extended beyond state trial courts into federal appellate venues. Over the decades she has handled matters that required both trial-level advocacy and appellate briefing, navigating the different demands each stage places on strategy and legal writing.

Her time as managing partner sharpened administrative and supervisory skills. She oversaw case teams, directed settlement discussions, and helped set litigation strategy across a range of matters handled by the firm. Partners and staff alike relied on her to coordinate resources and keep complex dockets moving. That experience informed her decision in 2020 to establish Bolfango Law, where she shifted from joint management to sole ownership and independent practice.

At Bolfango Law she continues to represent clients in state and federal matters. The office handles litigation and appellate work and regularly appears in federal court and appellate matters, including before the Ninth Circuit and the Federal Circuit. Her practice combines courtroom experience, firm management background, and appellate admission credentials. Her current practice handles matters in state and federal courts, including appeals before the Ninth Circuit and the Federal Circuit.
