About Laureen
Laureen Anderson earned a Bachelor of Arts in history from Illinois State University in 1996 and completed her legal studies at the University of Iowa College of Law, receiving her J.D. in 2002. She made the transition from the classroom to the courtroom soon after graduation, building a practice rooted in litigation and administrative advocacy.
She is admitted to practice in Illinois and before the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. Those admissions have shaped the kinds of matters she takes on. Over the years she has moved between trial settings, administrative hearings and federal appellate work, developing practical skills in each arena.
Anderson holds membership in the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA). That affiliation reflects a substantial part of her caseload: immigration-related litigation, petitions and administrative matters. She appears in hearings and filings that range from removal defense to appeals of administrative decisions, and she prepares briefs for federal appellate review when cases advance beyond immigration courts.
Her legal career has taken place at Katsivalis & Anderson Law, where she is a principal attorney. At the firm she works alongside colleagues on complex immigration questions and cross-border issues that intersect with federal law. Colleagues describe her as methodical; clients have relied on her for straightforward problem-solving and clear explanations of sometimes technical legal rules.
Anderson’s work requires time in courtrooms, in agency offices and at writing desks. She balances oral advocacy with drafting appellate briefs and administrative submissions. She is comfortable handling fact development and legal research, and she manages cases that require coordination across local and federal venues.
Outside casework she stays engaged with continuing legal education and professional networks that track immigration policy and appellate procedure. She maintains active membership in AILA and the professional contacts that come with it. Today she practices at Katsivalis & Anderson Law, handling immigration and related federal appellate matters in Illinois and before the Seventh Circuit.
