About Laura
Laura Starr built a legal foundation at Texas Christian University, where she earned a B.S., and then at DePaul College of Law, where she completed her J.D. Her education set the stage for work across state lines. She is admitted to practice in Illinois and Texas and has maintained ties to both bar communities.
Her professional trajectory turned toward practice management in 2014, when she took on the role of managing shareholder at Starr Law Office, P.C. That position has anchored her day-to-day work ever since. She has been an active member of the State Bar of Illinois since 2013 and joined the State Bar of Texas and several local bar groups the following year.
Starr’s accreditation includes certification in Estate Planning and Probate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. That credential signals a concentration in matters such as wills, trusts, probate administration and related guardianship and fiduciary issues. Colleagues and clients know her for handling the paperwork and courtroom steps that probate and estate matters require.
Her bar and community involvement is broad. She has been a member of the Texas Bar College since 2015 and participates in the Dallas Bar Association’s North Texas Probate Bench Bar Committee. Locally she has held memberships in the Plano Bar Association, Collin County Bar Association and the Collin County Women Lawyers Association. Outside the law, Starr served on the Ursuline Academy Alumnae Board as Vice President of Homecoming from 2017 to 2023 and took part in Leadership Plano’s Class 37 in 2019–2020.
In practice she divides time between transactional planning and contested matters that arise after a death or when a trust or estate is challenged. Her office handles document drafting and review, estate administration and, when required, probate litigation. She works with clients to organize estate documents, advise on fiduciary duties and guide executors and trustees through their responsibilities.
Starr Law Office, P.C., is the firm she leads and where she administers client matters and supervises other attorneys and staff. She continues to practice in both Illinois and Texas while maintaining active involvement in local and state bar organizations. Her current practice focuses on estate planning and probate law.
