About Laura
Laura G. Kennedy is a seasoned trial lawyer with a focus on commercial disputes and insurance coverage. She has built a robust practice representing both companies and individuals in complex litigation matters. Her experience spans federal and state courts, as well as arbitration and mediation. With a strong foundation in legal principles, Ms. Kennedy is well-equipped to handle the details of the legal system. In 1995, Ms. Kennedy earned her Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from Brigham Young University’s J. Reuben Clark Law School.
During her time in law school, she served as the Managing Editor of the BYU Journal of Public Law. Her academic excellence was recognized with the prestigious J — Reuben Clark and Douglas A. Parker Awards. Prior to her law degree, she completed her Bachelor of Arts, also magna cum laude, at Brigham Young University in 1991. This strong educational background laid the groundwork for her successful legal career. Before joining Parr Brown Gee & Loveless, Ms. Kennedy spent over 15 years as a judicial law clerk. Her clerkships included positions at the United States District Court, the Utah Supreme Court, and the Utah Court of Appeals. This experience provided her with invaluable insights into the judicial processes of Utah's state and federal courts, enhancing her ability to advocate for her clients.
In April 2024, Ms. Kennedy was appointed President of Parr Brown Gee & Loveless, evidence of her leadership and expertise in the legal field. Her contributions have not gone unnoticed; she has been recognized multiple times by Utah Business magazine. Notably, she received the 2024 "30 Women to Watch" award and was named one of the Legal Elite for 2025 for her work in commercial litigation. These accolades reflect her commitment to excellence in her practice areas, which include appeals, commercial litigation, contract disputes, insurance and bad faith claims, real estate litigation, and risk management. Ms. Kennedy is an active member of the Utah State Bar and the Federal Bar Association. She is also involved with the Aldon J. Anderson American Inn of Court, where she engages with fellow legal professionals.
Beyond her legal practice, she dedicates time to community service as a member of the Board of Trustees for Take Heart International. This nonprofit organization focuses on providing accessible education to rural areas of Zambia.
