About Laura E
Laura E Shepard earned her J.D. from the University of Kentucky College of Law. She completed her legal training there and carried that foundation into a career in immigration law.
Early in her career she gravitated toward matters that involve close work with clients and government agencies. She spent time learning administrative processes and court procedures that commonly arise in immigration matters. Over the years she developed practical experience in filing petitions, preparing applications, and representing clients at interviews and hearings.
Her practice has covered the routine and the urgent. She has handled family-based petitions, employment-related visas and green card applications, naturalization filings and removal defense. She is also experienced in preparing waivers and other supporting documentation that immigration authorities often require. Her work crosses the line between paperwork and advocacy; some matters are resolved on submission, and others require hearings before immigration judges or appearances with government officials.
She later established Shepard Immigration Law. At the firm she manages casework and client intake, and she works directly with clients to map out legal options. The firm handles both individual matters and cases that involve multiple family members. The practice serves clients who need guidance on entry, residency and steps toward citizenship.
Colleagues and clients describe her approach as methodical. She pays attention to regulatory detail and to deadlines. She reviews evidence carefully and explains the procedures and possible outcomes in plain language. In contested matters she prepares briefs and affidavits and represents clients in hearings; in nonadversarial cases she focuses on assembling complete, organized files for filing with the relevant agencies.
She has built experience in common immigration filings and the procedural tools that support them. That experience informs how she prioritizes tasks and how she sets expectations with clients. She also keeps up with changes in immigration rules and agency practice that affect filing strategies and timing.
In practice she balances paperwork, client counseling and courtroom advocacy when needed. She works with families, individuals and employers who need legal help navigating federal immigration processes. Her current practice centers on immigration law at Shepard Immigration Law.
