About Laura Beth

Laura Beth Stein began her path to law after earning a bachelor’s degree from Tufts University in 1993 and completing her J.D. at Shepard Broad Law Center, Nova Southeastern University, in 1995. She moved quickly from law school into practice. The early years shaped a practical approach to courtroom work and client counseling.

She holds memberships in the Florida Bar and the State Bar of Colorado and is admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the District of Colorado. She has been a member of the Douglas/Elbert Bar Association since 1999. Those affiliations reflect a career that spans state and federal practice across more than one jurisdiction.

Stein’s career includes longstanding partnerships in private practice. She is a founder and partner of Family Law Advocates. She has also served as a partner at Plog & Stein P.C. In those roles she has handled family law cases that require both negotiation and litigation. Her work has covered divorce, child custody and visitation disputes, spousal and child support matters, and related family-court proceedings.

Colleagues describe her work as steady and detail-oriented. She prepares pleadings, conducts discovery, takes depositions and argues hearings. She represents clients at settlement conferences and trials, and she advises on the procedural steps that follow each stage of a case. She balances courtroom preparation with client communication, aiming to keep people informed about tangible next steps.

Her practice has involved offices associated with both Family Law Advocates and Plog & Stein P.C. She splits time between those practices depending on case needs. That arrangement has allowed her to serve clients in Florida and in Colorado courts, including federal court where appropriate.

Beyond casework, Stein participates in local bar activity through the Douglas/Elbert Bar Association and maintains memberships in the state bars where she is licensed. She appears in hearings, files motions and manages the administrative tasks that keep cases moving toward resolution. She is known for a methodical approach to case strategy and for preparing clients for the realities of litigation.

After more than two decades in practice, Stein continues to handle family law matters across multiple forums. She currently handles family law matters in Florida and Colorado.
