About Laura B.
Laura B. Barker earned a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice from Texas State University in 1999, after beginning her undergraduate studies in 1995. She continued her legal education at St. Mary’s University School of Law, receiving her J.D. in 2002. Those years set the stage for a career focused on criminal law and courtroom work.
She was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 2002 and has maintained an active license since then. Early in her career she joined national and state criminal defense organizations; she has held membership in the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association since 2003. She also joined the State Bar of Texas in 2002 and became involved in local bar activities. From 2014 to 2015 she served as president of the Williamson County Bar Association and continues to hold membership in its Women Lawyers Section.
Barker’s professional life combines court appearances, client counseling and bar leadership. Colleagues describe her as deliberate in court and attentive with clients. Her practice history includes handling matters at the local and state level and engaging in pretrial work and trial advocacy. Her association memberships suggest steady engagement with developments in criminal defense practice and lawyering skills training over the past two decades.
She operates the Law Office of Laura B. Barker. In that capacity she represents individuals facing criminal charges and manages the daily work of a small practice. Her casework has required courtroom time as well as negotiation outside courtrooms. She has balanced solo practice responsibilities with participation in bar activities and occasional leadership roles in the local bar.
Outside of casework, Barker’s involvement in professional organizations has provided a platform for staying current on changes in criminal law and procedure. She has remained active in state and national defense groups since the early 2000s and in local bar governance during the mid-2010s. That combination of practice and professional engagement informs how she approaches client matters.
Her current practice centers on criminal defense and related matters.
