About Laura A
Laura A Carney went from a Florida undergraduate degree to law school in New Jersey. She earned a B.S. from the University of Florida in 1993 and received her J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law in 1999. Those formative years set a clear path: state law, court work and professional involvement across the Garden State.
Her legal career began in government. In 1999 she joined the New Jersey Office of the Lawyer General as a Deputy Lawyer General. In that role she handled matters on behalf of state agencies and gained experience in litigation and advisory work that involved regulatory and public-sector issues. The early work in the Attorney General’s office offered sustained courtroom exposure and a daily immersion in procedural and substantive aspects of New Jersey law.
A decade later she entered private practice. In 2009 she became an associate at Blume Forte Fried Zerres & Molinari. At the firm she took on matters that draw on her background in government and litigation. Her time in private practice broadened the range of disputes she handles and deepened courtroom experience in both state and federal forums.
Carney is active in bar and trial circles across New Jersey. She serves on the Board of Governors of the American Association for Justice and chairs the Essex County Bar Association’s Health Law Committee. Her memberships include the Hudson County Bar Association and its Civil Practice Committee, the New Jersey Association for Justice, the Trial Lawyers of New Jersey and the New Jersey State Bar Association, where she has been involved since 1999. She is also a barrister in the Hudson County Inns of Court and holds membership in the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey beginning in 1999. Those roles keep her engaged in continuing education, committee work and the practical exchange of trial experience.
Her licensing and practice are centered in New Jersey. She maintains courtroom and advisory work that reflects both her government-sector background and subsequent private practice. She is known among peers for steady involvement in legal organizations and committee leadership rather than public profile work.
Her practice centers on health law and civil litigation in New Jersey.
