About Larry V
Larry V Simmons built a career inside city halls and later in private practice. He spent decades as a municipal lawyer, handling the kinds of day-to-day and high-stakes matters that accompany city government. He now leads his own practice after a long stretch in public service.
His academic path moved steadily toward public law. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma, followed by a Master of Arts in Public Administration from Oklahoma State University 6Stillwater. He completed his legal education at the University of Tulsa College of Law.
Simmons began his municipal legal career in Tulsa. Records show he served as a Deputy City Lawyer for the City of Tulsa beginning in 1983 and advanced through five promotions while there. That period gave him sustained exposure to municipal operations, city ordinances, and the interplay between elected officials and career staff.
He later served as Deputy City Lawyer for the City of Stillwater in 2007. Those successive municipal posts placed him in the center of local government decision-making across different Oklahoma communities. In 2013 he opened a private practice and took the title of Principal at Larry V. Simmons, Lawyer at Law, moving from city employment to running a small firm serving public and private clients.
Simmons holds admissions that reflect both trial and appellate reach. He is admitted to practice in Oklahoma and holds credentials to appear before the U.S. Supreme Court and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. Over the years his work has touched on municipal legal affairs, local government governance, administrative matters, and litigation tied to city operations.
Colleagues and municipal clients have relied on his familiarity with city procedures and the legal issues that routinely confront municipalities. He continues to operate his private practice. His current work centers on municipal matters and other legal issues arising from local government practice.
