About Larren M.

Larren M. Nashelsky graduated from the University at Albany in 1988 and earned his J.D. from Hofstra University School of Law in 1991. He entered the profession at the start of the 1990s and has practiced law through more than three decades of change in the legal market. His education provided a foundation for a career that spans private practice and firm leadership.

He is admitted to practice in the State of New York and the State of Connecticut. Those admissions allow him to handle matters on both sides of the Hudson and in neighboring Connecticut courts and regulatory forums. Over the years he has combined courtroom work, transactional matters and internal firm work, building experience across different kinds of legal practice.

Nashelsky serves as Chair of Morrison & Foerster LLP. In that role he occupies a senior leadership post at a national firm and participates in decisions about governance and firm direction. His position places him at the intersection of management and client service, balancing operational responsibilities with the needs of lawyers and clients.

Colleagues describe his approach as pragmatic and steady. He has been involved in partner-level leadership and in mentoring younger lawyers as they move into practice. That includes taking part in firm committees and discussing policy choices that affect staffing, professional development and how the firm presents itself to clients.

Throughout his career he has worked on matters that require coordination across teams and jurisdictions. He has led groups of lawyers on multi-jurisdictional projects and has experience supervising the work of others. His practice has required attention to detail and an ability to make strategic decisions under pressure. These traits have shaped both his client work and his firm leadership.

Outside formal leadership responsibilities, Nashelsky remains engaged in the substantive practice of law. Today he maintains an active practice in New York and Connecticut, advising clients on a range of legal matters.
