About Lara
Lara Pearson is the founder and leader of Brand Geek, an intellectual property law firm that specializes in international brand protection through trademark and copyright law. She established the firm in July 2002 in Incline Village, Nevada, after earning her Juris Doctor from Northeastern University School of Law in 1999. This academic foundation gave her the skills necessary to handle the requirements of intellectual property law. Before founding Brand Geek, Pearson developed her expertise in the IP department of a small Nevada law firm, where she worked for two and a half years, gaining inexperience in the field. Under Pearson's leadership, Brand Geek has become known for its commitment to environmental sustainability. The firm achieved Certified B Corporation status in February 2008, a designation that recognizes companies meeting high standards of social and environmental performance.
In 2019 and 2021, Brand Geek was awarded Best for the World ~ Governance, highlighting its exemplary governance practices. Additionally, the firm joined 1% for the Planet in January 2006, pledging to contribute at least 1% of its annual revenue to environmental causes. This commitment demonstrates Pearson's dedication to integrating environmental responsibility into her legal practice. In 2022, Pearson expanded her community engagement by joining the Board of Directors of Keep Tahoe Blue, an organization focused on preserving the Lake Tahoe Basin. She is also affiliated with the International Trademark Association, the Copyright Society of the U.S.A., and the Social Venture Network. Earlier in her legal career, Pearson gained diverse experience as a legal extern to the Honorable Justice Miriam Shearing of the Nevada Supreme Court. She also served as a legal intern in the Immigration Unit at Greater Boston Legal Services.
