About Lance Andrew

Lance Andrew Bowling built his foundation in labor relations at Cornell University, where he earned a B.S. in Industrial and Labor Relations. He followed that with a J.D. from the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law. Those two degrees set the arc of a career spent largely on labor and employment matters.

He began his legal career as an associate at McGlinchey Stafford in 1998. He moved in-house in 2003 as senior corporate counsel for labor and employment at Dynegy. He returned briefly to private practice as of counsel at McGlinchey Stafford in 2007 before taking a senior counsel position with Dresser-Rand in 2009. In 2013 he joined ExxonMobil as counsel in labor and employment, then stepped into a global role in 2015 as senior associate general counsel for global labor and employment at Chicago Bridge & Iron. In 2018 he became head of labor relations at Entergy. Since 2020 he has served as managing member of The Bowling Firm, PLLC.

Those roles track a steady move from firm-side work to senior in-house positions and back into private practice. His corporate appointments placed him in energy, engineering and heavy industry environments where collective bargaining, union relations and cross-border labor issues are routine. The titles alone suggest responsibility for large-scale labor policies, contract negotiations and dispute resolution, though the specifics of individual matters remain confidential to clients and employers.

Bowling is admitted to practice in Tennessee, Texas, Louisiana and Georgia. He also maintains active membership in the State Bar of Texas, the State Bar of Georgia and the Louisiana State Bar Association. The multi-jurisdictional admissions reflect the interstate nature of many employer-side labor disputes and employment compliance problems.

In practice he handles a spectrum of labor and employment matters: collective bargaining and union relations, employment litigation, internal investigations and compliance counseling. His background in corporate counsel roles means he often advises on policy development, employment contracts and mitigation of union-related risk. He has worked on both strategic planning and day-to-day labor issues.

Colleagues describe an attorney comfortable in high-pressure corporate settings and in negotiation rooms where labor and management interests collide. He has moved through roles that require both legal analysis and operational judgment. That mix informs how he approaches client matters now.

He currently practices at The Bowling Firm, PLLC, focusing on labor and employment matters across Tennessee, Texas, Louisiana and Georgia.
