Lance Aaron Hafenstein is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in the State of California. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 1991. His license is currently in active status. Mr. Hafenstein is a member of the Napa County District Attorney's Office, located at 931 Parkway Mall, Napa, CA 94559. He has been practicing law for over 34 years, serving clients throughout Napa County and the surrounding regions.
Mr. Hafenstein earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, where he graduated in 1990. Prior to law school, he completed his undergraduate education at the University of California, Berkeley, receiving dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in History and Political Science in 1987. During his time at UC Hastings, he was involved in various legal clinics and externships, gaining practical experience in criminal law.
Mr. Hafenstein concentrates his practice in the areas of criminal defense and DUI/DWI cases. He represents individuals in matters involving drug crimes, expungement, fraud, gun crimes, internet crimes, sex crimes, theft, and violent crimes. His practice encompasses all stages of litigation, including initial case evaluation, discovery, mediation, settlement negotiations, and trial proceedings in both state and federal courts.
Throughout his career, Mr. Hafenstein has handled cases in the Superior Court of California for the County of Napa, the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He has also appeared before the California Court of Appeal on multiple occasions. Prior to joining the Napa County District Attorney's Office, he worked in the Compton and Long Beach branches of the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office from 1990 to early 1997.
Mr. Hafenstein is an active member of the California State Bar Association and the Napa County Bar Association. He is also a certified specialist in criminal law through the State Bar of California. He has been the administrator of the Jefferson Law Center since 2021. Mr. Hafenstein is fluent in English and Spanish, allowing him to serve the diverse communities of Napa County effectively.
