About Lana

Lana Elliott trained first as a nurse and later turned to the law. She earned a nursing certificate from Evpatoria Nursing College in 1986, then pursued legal studies overseas, taking an LL.M. at the Ukrainian National Academy of Law in 2000 before completing a J.D. at the University of Idaho College of Law in 2004. The sequence gives her an uncommon mix of clinical and legal training.

After law school she spent time in the court system as a clerk at the Humboldt Superior Court in 2005. That year marked the start of her private-practice career as well. Records show roles at the Law Offices of Lana Elliott, PLLC and at Elliott Law Group, PLLC, where she has been listed as a senior lawyer. The early years of practice were therefore split between courtroom work and building a practice profile in state and federal venues.

Elliott is admitted to practice in Washington and before the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Her bar memberships include the Spokane County Bar Association, and she has been a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association since 2005. Those affiliations indicate a practice that bridges local court work and matters that can reach federal appellate levels. She has kept those memberships current over many years.

Her background in both Ukrainian and U.S. legal education informs how she approaches cross-jurisdictional issues. The LL.M. earned abroad followed by a U.S. J.D. gives her familiarity with different legal systems and procedures. That combination can be useful in cases that touch immigration, nationality questions, or matters where international documents and testimony play a role.

In private practice Elliott has taken on roles that include counsel and senior lawyer responsibilities. She has experience in court clerking and the practical demands of running and staffing a small firm. Those duties require day-to-day litigation work, client advising, and courtroom appearances when matters proceed to hearing or appeal.

As of 2026 she practices at Elliott Law Group, PLLC. Her work draws on both her immigrant-law association ties and her admission to the Ninth Circuit, and her practice centers on immigration matters and federal appellate filings.
