About Kyle
Kyle Vinyard built his legal foundation at Willamette University, where he completed a Bachelor of Arts. He stayed in Salem to earn his J.D. from Willamette University College of Law in 2017. Those years gave him classroom training and practical exposure to government work.
He began his professional career in the trenches of public service. In 2015 he worked as a law clerk at Hernandez and Associates. The following year he served as a court certified law clerk in the Deschutes County District Attorney’s Office. That role put him inside criminal courtrooms and in front of judges on regular dockets.
During his final year of law school he took a position as a legal extern for Representative Rich Vial in Salem. The externship added a legislative and policy perspective to his courtroom experience. He moved quickly into prosecutorial work after graduation. In 2018 he joined the Josephine County District Attorney’s Office as a deputy district lawyer, holding positions listed as Deputy District Lawyer I and II. Those years in county government shaped his approach to case preparation and courtroom practice.
In 2020 he transitioned to private practice and joined Reynolds Defense Firm as a lawyer. The move from a public prosecutor’s office to a defense firm is reflected in his career record. At Reynolds Defense Firm he has handled trial preparation, client interviews, legal research and court appearances. His background gives him experience on both sides of criminal matters.
Colleagues describe him as steady in court and thorough in files. He carries experience from district attorney offices, legislative externships and private firm work. That breadth informs how he evaluates evidence and prepares for hearings. He has worked in different courtroom settings and learned the procedural expectations of judges and clerks in multiple counties.
Outside the courtroom his path followed a steady progression: law clerk work led to certified clerk duties, then to an externship, prosecutorial roles and finally private practice. The sequence shows an emphasis on gaining practical courtroom experience early and building it into a trial-ready practice.
He currently practices at Reynolds Defense Firm, where he handles defense matters.
