About Kyle
Kyle Sampson arrived in law after studying at Texas A&M University in College Station and earning his J.D. from Texas Tech University School of Law. He kept his ties to the state through both degrees and returned to Houston to build a courtroom practice. The academic path was straightforward, but the next steps took him into settings where trial work matters every day.
He began his legal career as a prosecutor in the United States Marine Corps. In uniform, he handled military criminal matters and litigated cases that required quick judgment and firm advocacy. That early phase exposed him to high-stakes hearings and to rules of evidence and procedure that mirror civilian criminal practice.
After military service he moved into civilian practice and founded his own firm, Kyle Sampson, Lawyer at Law. He has since taken cases in state and federal courts, pursuing trial and appellate strategies on behalf of clients. His admissions include practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, the Fifth and Ninth Circuits, and in the state courts of Texas. Those credentials support both trial work and appeals.
Sampson carries board certifications in criminal law from the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and from the National Board of Trial Advocacy. Those certifications reflect additional testing and peer review in criminal practice. They mark a formal recognition of training and courtroom experience rather than a marketing label.
He is active in professional organizations. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Harris County Criminal Lawyers Association. He also holds memberships in the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, and the Houston Bar Association. The memberships keep him connected to evolving case law and local practice norms.
His practice mixes trial litigation and appellate work. He takes felony matters, represents clients at trial, and handles post-conviction and appellate filings in federal and state courts. He brings courtroom experience from military and civilian settings to cases that require both preparation and a willingness to contest evidence. Colleagues describe him as someone who prefers direct courtroom advocacy over behind-the-scenes negotiation.
He continues to run Kyle Sampson, Lawyer at Law in Houston. He represents clients in criminal cases at trial and on appeal and maintains admissions to federal appellate panels and the U.S. Supreme Court where appropriate. His current practice focuses on criminal defense in both trial and appellate courts.
