About Kyle J.
Kyle J. Bristow completed a traditional academic path into law. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from Michigan State University in 2008, then an Associate of Arts in General Studies from Macomb Community College in 2009. He finished law school at the University of Toledo, receiving his J.D. in 2012.
His early years after law school were busy and varied. In 2011 and 2012 he worked as a certified legal intern and law clerk in several settings, including the University of Toledo College of Law clinical programs, the Toledo Public Defender’s Office, and private firms such as Faber & Associates and The Van Dyke Law Office. He also served as a legal researcher for a University of Toledo law professor and took on multiple clerkship roles that exposed him to trial preparation, research, and client intake.
After graduating in 2012 he spent time in associate positions at small firms. That year he worked at France Law Group, LLC, and then took associate roles at Romanzi Atnip, P.C., and the Law Office of Issam A. Abbas, PLLC. In 2013 he established Bristow Law, PLLC, as a vehicle for his private practice. Three years later he expanded his professional activities by taking on an executive position at the Foundation for the Marketplace of Ideas, Inc., in 2016.
Bristow’s credentials include a number of professional research certifications. He has completed advanced training and certifications from Westlaw and LexisNexis across case law, statutes, secondary sources, and cost-effective research techniques. He is also a commissioned notary public in Ohio. Those practical research skills underpin his approach to case preparation and appellate briefing.
He holds admission in multiple jurisdictions. Those listings include the U.S. Supreme Court, several federal circuits—the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 9th, 10th, and D.C. Circuits—and a range of district courts in Ohio and Michigan, as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces. He maintains memberships in professional and interest groups such as the State Bar of Michigan, the Online Media Legal Network at Harvard’s Berkman Center, and the Home School Legal Defense Association, among others.
Colleagues and clients would find in Bristow a lawyer who spent his formative years rotating through clinics, public defense, research, and small-firm practice before creating his own practice. He combines courtroom admissions across state and federal levels with formal training in legal research platforms. He currently practices through Bristow Law, PLLC, handling federal and state matters across several circuits.
