About Kurt
Kurt Kazmierczak returned to legal practice after a circuitous path through finance. He earned a B.A. in business from Hanover College in 1997 and later completed his J.D. at Valparaiso University School of Law in 2015. The two degrees frame a career that moves between money management and courtroom procedures.
Before law school he spent years as a financial advisor. He worked for Edward Jones beginning in 2008, moved to Merrill Lynch in 2010, and served as an insurance and financial representative for COUNTRY Financial in 2011. Those positions exposed him to client counseling, regulatory compliance and dispute resolution from the financial services side.
While finishing law school and in the immediate aftermath, he gained practical legal experience as a law clerk at Sachs & Hess, PC in 2014. After receiving his law degree he worked as an independent consultant for Carr & Associates, LLC in 2015. The next year he joined Carr, Skadberg & Kazmierczak, LLC as counsel and chief financial officer, combining legal work with firm management and financial oversight.
In 2020 he opened the Law Office of Kurt L. Kazmierczak, practicing under his own name for several years. He later became part of Calderaro & Kazmierczak, LLC, where he continues to practice. Along the way he obtained certification as a guardian ad litem through the Indiana Judicial Branch, adding court-appointed child and guardianship matters to his qualifications.
Kazmierczak maintains active membership in the Indiana State Bar Association. His background gives him an unusual vantage point. He understands the language of investment accounts and insurance policies, and he understands how those instruments can matter in legal disputes. He approaches cases with an eye toward the numbers as well as the legal standards that govern them.
Clients and colleagues describe him as practical and methodical in the way he reviews documents and prepares for hearings. He has handled both transactional matters and contested proceedings, and he has taken responsibility for administrative tasks in firm settings, including financial oversight.
He is licensed to practice in Indiana and continues to accept matters that intersect with insurance, financial planning and family court issues. He currently practices at Calderaro & Kazmierczak, LLC, handling legal matters that involve insurance and financial issues and serving as a guardian ad litem when appointed.
