About Kristine
Kristine Tijam combines courtroom work, classroom experience and dispute resolution training in a career rooted in Ventura County. She studied sociology at the University of California, Santa Barbara, earning a B.A. in 2012. She later returned to the region for legal studies at The Santa Barbara and Ventura Colleges of Law in Ventura, where she completed her J.D. in 2018.
Her early work did not begin in a law office. In 2011 she served as a Healthy Eating and Living Specialist at UCSB Health & Wellness, a role that involved outreach and program delivery on campus. That period prefaced a move into insurance work. In 2014 Tijam joined Pacific Compensation Insurance Company as a workers’ compensation claims examiner. There she managed claims files and handled the administrative and investigative tasks that workers’ compensation work requires.
After finishing law school, Tijam entered private practice. In 2018 she joined Procter, Shyer & Winter, LLP as a civil litigation lawyer. At the firm she has worked on a range of civil cases, handling discovery, motion practice and settlement negotiation. She also pursued credentials that broaden her options outside the courtroom. Tijam is a certified mediator through the Ventura Center for Dispute Settlement and holds a Westlaw certification.
Teaching became part of her professional life in 2022 when she took on a role as an adjunct professor at The Colleges of Law. In that capacity she has taught law students while keeping an active caseload, balancing classroom responsibilities against the deadlines of litigation. Her memberships include the Ventura County Bar Association, the American Bar Association Young Lawyers Division and The Santa Barbara & Ventura Colleges of Law Alumni Council.
Colleagues describe her practice style as methodical and steady; she approaches casework with attention to procedure and an eye for practical resolution. Outside of litigation she brings mediation training to settlement discussions and client counseling. She continues to build experience in civil litigation matters and in teaching law students how litigation is conducted in state courts.
Tijam practices law in California and maintains her base at Procter, Shyer & Winter, LLP. She currently practices civil litigation in California at Procter, Shyer & Winter, LLP.
