About Kristin R.H.
Kristin R.H. Kirkner practices family law in Florida. She built a steady career in the local bar and now leads her own firm. Her work centers on marital and family matters, and she is a board certified specialist in that area under Florida law.
Kirkner earned her J.D. from the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law at Arizona State University in 2001. Before law school she completed a B.A. in Communications and Journalism at Colorado State University in 1996. Those degrees set the stage for a practice that blends courtroom work with client counseling.
Her early legal work included a position at Bay Area Legal Services in 2004. She moved into private practice the next year, joining the Law Office of Donald P. DeCort, P.A., as an associate in 2005. She became a partner at DeCort & Kirkner, P.L. in 2010, a role that expanded her responsibilities inside the firm and before the courts.
In 2014 she took on the role of principal lawyer at Kirkner Family Law Group, P.A. That step formalized her leadership and gave her a platform to shape a practice focused on family law disputes. Along the way she obtained board certification as a specialist in Marital & Family Law from the State of Florida, a designation that recognizes expertise and experience in that subject area.
Kirkner has been active in the Hillsborough County Bar Association, especially within its Family Law Section. She has served on the section's executive council since 2008 and took on the secretary/treasurer responsibilities in 2012. Those roles keep her connected to local practice developments and procedural issues affecting family law attorneys.
Her practice handles the routine and the complex aspects of family law. She represents clients in divorce proceedings and related disputes, and she works on custody, support and issues involving the division of marital assets. She practices in Florida courts and manages the firm operations at Kirkner Family Law Group, P.A. Her current practice focuses on marital and family law matters in the Tampa Bay area.
