About Kristie
Kristie Fingerhut built a steady legal career that began in the courtroom and moved into private practice leadership. She earned her J.D. from Loyola University Chicago School of Law in 2003 after completing undergraduate studies at the University of Southern California, where she received a B.A. in psychology and a minor in Law and Society in 2000. The academic background gave her a mix of legal training and an understanding of human behavior.
Her first professional post was as a judicial law clerk for the Circuit Court of Cook County in 2003. The clerkship offered early exposure to motion practice, evidentiary rulings and the cadence of family and civil dockets. She joined White, Scott and White as an associate in 2004. In that role she handled litigation tasks, client intake and courtroom appearances, learning how to manage caseloads and courtroom strategy.
After several years in firm practice, she opened her own firm, the Law Office of Kristie C. Fingerhut, in 2014. Running a solo practice expanded her responsibilities beyond casework. She oversaw operations, client development and case management. The move into firm ownership underscored a shift toward handling complex family law matters on behalf of individual clients.
In 2018 she stepped into a leadership role as managing partner at FW Family Law Group LLC. The position placed her in the center of a team-based environment, supervising other attorneys and coordinating litigation and settlement efforts. Her career path shows a progression from clerkship to associate work, then to proprietor and firm leader. That sequence shaped both her litigation skills and her approach to managing other lawyers.
Her practice experience centers on family law, where she has worked on divorce, custody and related domestic matters. She represents clients through negotiation, mediation and contested hearings. Colleagues and opposing counsel describe her courtroom presence as measured and methodical. She combines courtroom experience from early clerkship and associate years with the operational perspective of a firm owner and managing partner.
She is licensed to practice in Illinois and maintains an office through which she handles client matters. She currently serves as managing partner at FW Family Law Group LLC, where her practice focuses on family law matters.
