About Kristen G.
Kristen G. Roberts earned a bachelor’s degree in music from Scripps College, part of the Claremont Consortium of Colleges, and went on to complete her J.D. at Thomas Jefferson School of Law in 2010. She studied in two distinct environments: a liberal arts college known for its small classes and a law school in San Diego where practical skills and classroom theory intersected. Those academic settings shaped a practice that moves between detailed legal work and organizational design.
Her first legal roles began in 2011. She worked as an associate at JYT Law and then served as a civil litigator and workflow manager at a San Diego law office. Those early years gave her hands-on courtroom experience and an interest in how firms run. She handled discovery, drafted briefs and helped coordinate teams. The combination of litigation tasks and project management informed how she later structured her own firm.
In 2014 Roberts founded Trestle Law and took the title of managing lawyer. That same year she returned to Thomas Jefferson School of Law as an adjunct professor, teaching courses that drew on her recent practice experience. Leading a small firm required shifting between client work and administrative responsibilities. She built systems for case intake, calendaring and client communication. Her trajectory shows a move from staff lawyer to principal and teacher.
Roberts has also taken roles outside the courtroom. In 2022 she was Co-Director for Community Voices at TEDxSanDiego, helping curate local speakers and oversee event logistics. The work reflects an interest in public forums and storytelling. It also connects to her background in music and the arts; she approaches presentations and advocacy with an ear for structure and rhythm.
Today Roberts operates Trestle Law, APC in California. Her practice combines civil litigation experience and law office management skills. She represents clients in matters that require careful procedural handling and clear communication. She also continues occasional teaching and community programming. Her current practice focuses on serving California clients through litigation and firm-centered legal services.
