About Kourtney
Kourtney Ikard graduated from The University of Mississippi School of Law in 2010 after completing her undergraduate studies at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2006. She moved from the classroom to the courtroom in a period when many young lawyers were rethinking how to run a practice. Her academic record set the stage for steady professional growth.
Ikard took the conventional path into practice, gaining admission to the Alabama bar and later securing the ability to appear before the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama. Those credentials opened doors to both local and federal matters. She joined Watson McKinney, LLP, where she has continued to build her practice and courtroom experience.
Her work has been supported by a long-standing engagement with bar associations. Ikard maintains memberships in the Alabama State Bar Association and the American Bar Association. She is active locally as a member of the Huntsville-Madison County Bar Association and participates in the Alabama Association for Justice. She also belongs to the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, which reflects an interest in criminal defense practice and the defense community.
Aside from professional memberships, Ikard is involved in volunteer legal services. She takes part in the Madison County Volunteer Lawyers’ Program, providing pro bono help to people who might otherwise go without counsel. That volunteer work has kept her connected to everyday legal problems and to the community she serves.
Colleagues describe her work style as pragmatic and steady. She handles filings, court appearances and client consultations in ways that prioritize clarity. She balances courtroom responsibilities with case preparation and regular client communication. That combination has been central to her day-to-day practice.
Outside the office, Ikard’s ties to Alabama run through both education and professional life. Her law degree and earlier studies in Alabama inform a practice grounded in the state’s courts and legal culture. She remains involved in local bar activities and volunteer efforts that link lawyers to community needs.
Ikard continues to practice law in Alabama and represents clients in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama.
