About Koryn
Koryn Sheppard took an atypical route into law. She studied philosophy at the University of California, Los Angeles and earned a B.A. before turning to legal studies at California Western School of Law. She completed her J.D. in 2007 and pursued advanced coursework in criminal law and criminal justice during her time in law school.
Sheppard's early legal work was varied. After law school she worked as a law clerk and office manager at Liberty Lawyers in 2008. A year later she co-founded a small practice, Sheppard & Lakshin, where she served as partner and owner. That experience placed her in the center of managing both client matters and the practical demands of running a firm.
The next decade brought a series of positions across San Diego firms. In 2012 she joined Goldberg Jones San Diego, then moved on to Stassinopoulos & Schweitzer, LLP as an associate in 2014. 2015 was a busy year: records show roles at Fischer & Van Thiel, LLP and at the Law and Mediation Firm of Klueck & Hoppes. By 2019 she was identified as a lawyer and family law specialist at Primus Family Law Group, LLP.
Sheppard is a Certified Specialist in Family Law, a designation issued by the State Bar of California. That certification signals that she has met the bar’s requirements for specialized work in family law. It aligns with her memberships in local bar groups; she has been a member of the San Diego Bar Association since 2009 and joined the San Diego County Bar Association’s Family Law Section in 2015, where she remains active.
Her practice has blended courtroom work and negotiated resolutions. Colleagues describe her as someone who handles custody, support and property matters in family court and also works on settlements and mediation. Her background managing a firm and moving through several boutique and mid-size firms gave her a mix of client-facing and administrative experience.
Sheppard currently practices at Higgs Fletcher & Mack LLP in San Diego. She handles family law matters and related proceedings at the firm, maintaining her focus on the legal issues that arise in divorce, custody and support cases.
