About Kiyam Jamal

Kiyam Jamal Poulson took a conventional path into law, starting with an undergraduate degree in economics from the University of Pennsylvania in 1995 and completing his Juris Doctor at the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University in 1999. His academic background combined the analytical tools of economics with legal training, a combination that shaped how he approaches legal problems.

He began his legal career after earning his J.D. and has practiced in New York ever since. Over the years he has worked with a range of clients and handled matters under New York law. He is admitted to practice in New York and has maintained his practice within the state.

Poulson’s experience covers the daily demands of running a law practice as well as the courtroom and transactional work that many clients require. He has dealt with client intake, case management and legal strategy. Colleagues describe him as methodical; he breaks problems into manageable parts and addresses each element in turn. That practical, detail-oriented approach has guided his work rather than any single stylistic flourish.

Outside the courthouse, Poulson has maintained professional memberships since 2004. He has kept ties to local bar networks and the broader legal community in New York. Those connections have helped him stay current on changes in state law and procedure, and they have provided practical resources for clients who need referrals or specialized expertise beyond the scope of his office.

Today he practices from Poulson Law, PLLC. The firm handles matters for individuals and businesses that arise under New York law. He manages client relationships, oversees case preparation and remains engaged in both the administrative and substantive sides of the practice. The office is structured to address routine legal needs as well as more complex matters that require focused attention.

Clients who work with Poulson are likely to find a lawyer who prefers clear explanations and steady progress. He presents legal options plainly and sets expectations for timing and cost. He continues to base his work on the legal and economic training he received at Penn and Hofstra, applying that background to the practical problems his clients bring to the office. He currently practices at Poulson Law, PLLC, handling matters under New York law.
