About Kiva Vera

Kiva Vera Waters entered the City University of New York School of Law in 1998 and earned her J.D. in 2001. Her legal training in New York exposed her to classroom work and clinics that emphasized practical skills alongside doctrinal study. The CUNY program shaped her early approach to practice and provided the foundation she built on in the years that followed.

After law school she established herself in the New York legal community. She is licensed to practice in New York and has been a member of the State Bar of New York since 2005. That membership has kept her connected to shifting rules and procedures in the state courts and to continuing legal education offered through the bar. Colleagues describe her as steady and pragmatic in how she handles casework and client matters.

Over the course of her career she has handled a range of legal tasks typical of a New York practitioner. She has advised clients, prepared filings and pleadings, and represented parties in hearings. Her work has involved both transactional and contested matters, and she is experienced in managing the practical steps that keep a case moving. She approaches each matter by sorting facts, identifying the controlling law, and laying out options so clients can make informed decisions.

Waters practices out of WATERS LAW GROUP. The firm serves clients in the state and focuses on matters that arise under New York law. Her role there includes client counseling, case management and courtroom appearances when litigation is necessary. She maintains professional ties through the State Bar of New York and stays current on developments that affect her clients.

Those who work with her find a lawyer who emphasizes clear communication and an economy of motion in handling legal problems. She does not overcomplicate issues. Instead she breaks them down into what needs to be done now and what can wait. That practical orientation runs through her approach at WATERS LAW GROUP.

She continues to practice in New York, where her current work centers on advising and representing clients in matters governed by state law.
