About Kit Chandler
Kit Chandler Westbrook earned his J.D. from Chapman University Fowler School of Law in 2005. He completed law school in Orange County and later built a practice on California’s Central Coast. Those early years in and around the courts of coastal California shaped how he approaches work today.
Westbrook’s career centers on criminal defense. Over time he established a local practice under the name Central Coast Criminal Defense and expanded to operate from two offices on the Central Coast. He is a current member of the National Trial Lawyers and was listed among its Top 40 Under 40 members, a reflection of recognition by a national professional organization.
His day-to-day work involves representing people charged with crimes in California. He handles cases at different stages, from initial arraignment through resolution. He works with clients on procedural matters, evidence issues, and court appearances. He also meets regularly with clients to explain options and next steps. Colleagues describe him as practical in court and concise in pleadings.
Westbrook runs a small-firm practice that emphasizes responsiveness and local knowledge. The firm’s two offices allow him to cover court calendars across multiple jurisdictions on the Central Coast. Staff at the offices assist in scheduling, filing, and client intake. The structure is modest by design: it keeps the practice close to the communities he serves.
Outside of casework he remains involved in professional circles. His membership in the National Trial Lawyers places him among practitioners who focus on trial advocacy and litigation. He participates in continuing legal education and maintains contacts within the criminal defense community on the Central Coast. Those connections help him track changes in local court procedures and sentencing practices.
Clients come to Westbrook for direct counsel on criminal matters in California. He places emphasis on clear communication and making the legal process understandable. He is based at Central Coast Criminal Defense and works out of two regional offices on the Central Coast. He currently practices criminal defense at Central Coast Criminal Defense, concentrating on cases arising in California’s Central Coast courts.
