About Kimberley Reed-Bracey
Kimberley Reed-Bracey Johnson built a steady path into law after a decade in education and the humanities. She earned a B.S. from Murray State University in 1985, followed by an M.A. from Western Kentucky University in 1991. She later completed her legal studies at Nashville School of Law, receiving her J.D. in 2000.
Her early professional life was rooted in secondary education. In 1987 she served as a Speech and Theatre Instructor and Debate Coach at Gallatin High School. The classroom and the debate stage shaped her ability to prepare, present and persuade. Those are skills that later translated to a legal career.
After law school she moved into private practice. In 2001 she became a partner at Freeman & Bracey, PLC, where she has remained a firm leader. She also returned briefly to academia in 2006, teaching Business Associations at Nashville School of Law. That course work bridged practice and pedagogy and kept her connected to the next generation of lawyers.
Johnson maintains active ties to the Tennessee legal community. She holds memberships in the Nashville Bar Association, the Sumner County Bar Association, the Robertson County Bar Association and the Tennessee Bar Association. Her professional activities are centered in Tennessee, where she is licensed to practice.
Colleagues describe a lawyer who combines classroom discipline with firm-side responsibilities. She has spent years working on matters that touch on commercial relationships and the legal structures that support them. At Freeman & Bracey she balances client work with the administrative responsibilities that come with partnership.
Her background in debate and teaching informs how she approaches legal problems: methodical preparation, clear presentation and attention to procedural detail. That approach shows in both courtroom settings and in transactional matters. Her current practice, at Freeman & Bracey, PLC, includes work arising from business associations and related commercial matters.
