About Kevin

Kevin Stout trained as a lawyer on the West Coast. He completed undergraduate studies at Willamette University, earning a B.A. in Spanish and History in 2002. He then attended the University of Oregon School of Law, where he received his J.D. in 2008. His academic background in Spanish and history has informed his approach to client communication and case research.

Stout began his legal career soon after law school. In 2008 he worked for Catholic Charities Immigration Legal Services. That role put him on the front lines of immigration work, helping individuals and families navigate administrative and court processes. A few years later, in 2011, he served as a lawyer at Hecht & Norman, LLP, moving into private practice and gaining experience on a broader set of legal matters.

Those early positions reflect a mix of public interest and private practice experience. At Catholic Charities he worked in a nonprofit context, where resources are often limited and case loads are heavy. At Hecht & Norman, he encountered different pressures and expectations, the sort that come from life in a law firm. The combination shaped his litigation style and his approach to client intake and case management.

Stout is licensed to practice in Oregon. He has maintained professional affiliations during his career and holds current membership in at least one legal association. His background in Spanish has been useful in client-facing roles, enabling clearer communication with Spanish-speaking clients and helping to bridge cultural and linguistic gaps during intake, hearings, and settlement discussions.

Colleagues describe him as someone who balances case preparation with courtroom readiness. He has moved between nonprofit and private settings, and that movement shows in the way he allocates time between client counseling and formal advocacy. His work history suggests an attorney comfortable in hearings and administrative proceedings as well as in transactional or advisory tasks when they arise.

Today Stout practices law in Oregon. He continues to draw on his earlier work in immigration legal services while handling matters that come through private practice channels. His current practice concentrates on serving clients across the state, handling cases that reflect his combined nonprofit and firm experience.
