About Kevin
Kevin Stockstill trained for trial work from the start. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Louisiana State University in 1992 and a J.D. from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law in 1995. He later completed advanced trial training as a graduate of the Gerry Spence Trial Lawyers College.
He entered practice in Louisiana after law school. Over the years he has built a practice grounded in courtroom work and criminal defense. His training at the Trial Lawyers College is reflected in a trial-oriented approach. He is comfortable handling contested hearings and jury trials.
Stockstill’s work centers on criminal matters. He represents clients at all stages, from pretrial investigations through appeals. He handles motions practice, evidentiary hearings and jury trials. He also appears in misdemeanor cases and in serious felony matters. His practice involves preparing witnesses, developing trial strategy and arguing in court.
He has been active in professional groups tied to criminal defense. He is a current member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Louisiana Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He is also a member of the Louisiana State Bar. At the local level he served as president of the Lafayette Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, a role that included organizing events and mentoring newer attorneys.
Colleagues describe him as a trial lawyer who prefers the courtroom to the desk. He combines formal trial training with years of local practice. He handles client interviews, negotiates where appropriate and litigates when necessary. He regularly works in Louisiana state courts and maintains the professional memberships that keep him engaged with developments in criminal law.
He continues to practice in Louisiana. His current practice concentrates on criminal defense and trial work.
