About Kevin Michael
Kevin Michael Potts built a legal foundation at Indiana University. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Indiana University Bloomington in 2007. Three years later he graduated from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law with a Juris Doctor in 2010. The sequence of degrees set the stage for courtroom work and public service.
Early in his career Potts worked in prosecution. He served as a deputy prosecuting lawyer in the major case division of the Marion County Prosecutor's Office. That role placed him on complex matters that required courtroom time, evidence review and coordination with law enforcement. He handled filings, argued motions and took part in jury trials. The experience gave him direct exposure to the mechanics of criminal litigation at the county level.
After years in the prosecutor’s office Potts shifted to private practice. He opened Kevin Potts Lawyer at Law and practices under that firm name. As the firm's owner he manages client intake, case strategy and day-to-day operations. The move into private work allowed him to apply lessons learned in public prosecution to clients who face state court proceedings. He balances office responsibilities with court appearances.
Outside the courtroom Potts participates in bar activities. He is a current member of the Indianapolis Bar Association and holds other professional memberships. He engages in continuing legal education and stays involved in the local legal community. Those connections help him remain current on procedural developments and community expectations.
