About Kevin
Kevin McLaughlin built his legal training at Indiana University Maurer School of Law, where he completed his J.D. in 2012 after beginning studies in 2009. He came out of law school during a period of change in the profession. That timing shaped his early view of practice and career priorities.
He began practicing soon after graduation and has since established a practice that crosses state lines. He is admitted to practice in Illinois, Michigan and California. Those multiple admissions allow him to handle matters that touch more than one state and to advise clients who operate in different regulatory environments.
Over the course of his career he has moved between courts and client rooms. He has worked on matters that required adapting arguments to different state rules and court cultures. That experience taught him to plan for procedural differences and to coordinate filings and strategy across jurisdictions. He also maintains current memberships in professional organizations and keeps up with continuing legal education requirements in each state where he is licensed.
Colleagues describe him as practical in the courtroom and methodical in preparation. He tends to break complex problems into smaller, manageable pieces. That approach helps when cases involve multiple legal systems or when statutes diverge from one state to another. Clients who need cross-border legal work often seek someone who can translate one jurisdiction’s rules into actionable steps in another. His background makes that translation work part of his day-to-day practice.
He joined Crafted Law after accumulating years of multi-jurisdictional experience. At Crafted Law he handles matters that require coordination across state lines and attention to procedural detail. He balances litigation timing, jurisdictional strategy and client communication so that matters move forward without unnecessary delay.
Outside the office he keeps current on developments in the courts and on rule changes that affect multi-state practice. He attends bar activities and professional meetings to stay connected to peers in Illinois, Michigan and California. That regular engagement helps him spot practical implications of legal changes early.
He now practices at Crafted Law and focuses on representing clients whose matters involve Illinois, Michigan and California law.
