In 1988, he joined Kay and Bogenschutz, P.A., a prominent criminal defense firm in Fort Lauderdale at that time.

Under the mentorship of Edward M. Kay, J. David Bogenschutz, and Michael Dutko, he gained experience in handling high-profile criminal cases, including political prosecutions, white-collar crimes, and first-degree murder cases. In 1994, Mr. Kulik founded his own firm, Kevin J. Kulik, P.A. He has also defended numerous first-degree murder cases, particularly those involving the death penalty, and has substantial experience in appellate and post-conviction matters, especially those involving death row inmates.

In 2003, Mr. Kulik successfully sued the Broward County Sheriff for illegally strip-searching individuals charged with misdemeanors. This civil rights class action was settled for $11.5 million on behalf of the class, plus attorney’s fees and costs. Throughout his career, Mr. Kulik has tried approximately 500 jury trials as lead counsel.
