About Kevin E

Kevin E Mitchell built his career around the work that happens inside courtrooms and behind closed office doors. He arrived in law through school, then through years in county public defender offices. The result is a practice shaped by courtroom experience and time spent representing people charged with crimes in California.

He studied legal subjects at the University of California, Berkeley, where he earned a B.A. in Legal Studies. He then attended Golden Gate University School of Law and received his J.D. in 2007. Those academic years set the stage for early practical work as a law clerk and then as a trial lawyer.

Mitchell’s first recorded legal role was as a law clerk in 2003 at an office located at 885 Bryant. After law school he moved into public defense work. In 2008 he served as a Deputy Public Defender for San Joaquin County. That same year he is also listed as starting the Law Offices of Kevin E. Mitchell, indicating a mix of public and private practice in his early professional life.

Two years later he joined the Office of the Public Defender for the City and County of San Francisco, again as a Deputy Public Defender. Those years in two different county offices gave him frequent courtroom exposure. He also maintained professional ties beyond his offices. He held membership in the California Public Defenders Association from 2008 through 2015, a period that overlapped his public defender posts and private practice work.

Mitchell’s work has centered on criminal defense at the trial level. He has handled arraignments, pretrial hearings, plea negotiations and jury trials during his years in county public defender offices. The record of roles suggests a lawyer accustomed to heavy caseloads and fast-paced courtroom calendars. He has navigated the procedural shifts and standard defenses that arise in misdemeanor and felony cases in California courts.

Today he practices under the name Law Offices of Kevin E. Mitchell and remains active in matters arising in California. His practice continues to handle criminal defense work and public defense matters. He represents clients in state criminal cases and manages both courtroom appearances and case preparation as part of his current practice focus.
