About Kevin

Kevin Churchill built his path to the courtroom through a mix of environmental science, literature and law. He earned a B.A. in English from St. Michael's College in 1992, followed by a B.S. in Environmental Science from the University of Massachusetts in 1995. He completed his legal studies at the James E. Rogers College of Law at the University of Arizona, receiving his J.D. in 1999.

He entered public service early in his legal career. In 2001 he worked for the City of Burlington, where day-to-day municipal work introduced him to prosecutions and ordinance matters. The following year he joined the El Paso County Public Defender’s Office, representing clients in criminal cases and gaining trial experience under court schedules and heavy caseloads. By 2003 he had established his own practice, operating under Churchill Criminal Defense and taking on a broader roster of criminal defense matters across Colorado.

Churchill’s practice record shows steady involvement in DUI defense and criminal litigation. He holds admission in both Colorado and Vermont, which shapes the geographic span of the matters he handles. Colleagues point to his courtroom experience and his steady handling of evidentiary and procedural issues that commonly arise in impaired driving cases.

Outside his casework he has engaged with professional groups that focus on criminal defense practice. He is a current member of the National College for DUI Defense, an organization that concentrates on issues and training related to impaired driving defense. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar, a position that involves governance and program decisions for the statewide defense community.

Clients and peers find his background notable for the variety of early training—municipal law, public defense and private practice all form part of his résumé. That variety shows up in how he prepares for hearings and trials: attention to procedure, familiarity with laboratory and field testing questions, and routine navigation of plea negotiations when appropriate.

Today he practices under the name Churchill DUI Defense. His office handles DUI matters and related criminal charges, representing clients at all stages from pretrial motions through trial and sentencing. He continues to participate in professional education through his memberships and his role on the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar board, maintaining ties to the defense bar while managing an active caseload. He currently practices at Churchill DUI Defense, handling DUI defense and related criminal matters.
