About Kevin
Kevin Briggs began his legal path at Old Dominion University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts. He went on to get his Juris Doctor from Regent University School of Law. His academic background prepared him for courtroom work and client representation across Virginia.
Briggs moved into public service early in his career. In 2016 he worked as a staff lawyer for the Legal Aid Society of Eastern Virginia. There he handled matters for clients who could not afford private counsel. That period gave him daily experience in client intake, case management and courtroom appearances in local and regional settings.
In 2019 Briggs joined Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers as an associate. At Cooper Hurley he shifted into personal injury practice for plaintiffs. His work has included drafting pleadings, managing discovery, deposing witnesses and preparing cases for trial. He has represented clients in matters arising from vehicle collisions, premises incidents and other injury claims in Virginia courts.
Briggs participates in professional organizations that connect him to peers across the region. He is a member of the Norfolk & Portsmouth Bar Association and the Virginia Trail Lawyers Association. Those memberships provide regular opportunities for continuing legal education and local bar activities. He also keeps ties to community resources that assist clients facing the practical consequences of serious injury.
Colleagues describe Briggs as methodical in case preparation and straightforward in client communications. He approaches each file the same way: identify the facts, assemble the evidence and test the legal theories that can support recovery. He is experienced in the routine demands of litigation, from motion practice to settlement negotiation, and in adjusting strategy as cases evolve.
Outside the courtroom Briggs spends time staying current on developments in Virginia personal injury law. He continues to refine trial skills and the mechanics of handling injury claims in multiple venues across the state. He maintains an active practice at Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers, representing plaintiffs in personal injury matters throughout Virginia.
